Meet FoA Girl Kate
Mum, wife, administrator, & the creative heart behind Floating on Air Designs.
My passion lies in papercrafting, but I’ve always had a love for a variety crafts, including cross stitch, crystal art, stamping, decoupage, die cutting, coloring digital stamps & I love a bit of sparkle!
No two days are ever the same at the Creation Station. Some of my favourite things to do are experimenting with new techniques & working on the more challenging bespoke designs – spending time with the client to discuss their needs, researching individual elements, putting the puzzle together to create something just for them… something to really stand out from the crowd & be treasured.
My tech skills, on the other hand, are definitely a work in progress, so I find navigating social media & all the backstage updates an ongoing challenge. I’m not at all comfortable in front of the camera, & I have a fear of heights. However, being a determined (& stubborn) Taurus, I’m committed to overcoming these ‘flaws’ one step at a time.
Meet FoA Girl Jasmin
Hi, I’m Jasmin and one of the third generation of FoA Girls!
I started out as a Mum’s Crafty Helper when I was much younger and wanted to know everything. I couldn’t wait until I was old enough to attend the fairs with Mum. Despite being warned it could be boring at times, I was hooked after my first event! As I got older, more knowledgeable and confident, I was offered the role of ‘Grandma’s Reserve’ meaning if she was unable to go to the events, I could go instead. I accepted without hesitation!
Sadly, a family medical crisis meant the heart-breaking decision to shut up shop was made and we remained shut for several years. During this time, I completed my ASA Level 2 Teaching Aquatics qualification, my A levels and was on track to achieving a First Class Teaching Degree!
When the decision to relaunch with a new name, logo and slogan was made in 2018, I wanted in from the start. I was in my final year at University at the time so it gave me something to do in my down time and as a girl with a slightly awkwardly spelt name, the reason why we do this is so important to me.
It was a little more complicated during the Covid shut down and while I spent a year as an Au Pair in Chicago, Illinois but I am full of design ideas and trying to convince Mum to use at least some of them!!
I love being part of Floating on Air Designs and can’t wait to see how much it can ‘fly’ in years to come!
Meet FoA Girl Liz
Hi, I’m Liz – the Senior member of FoA.
I’m mainly behind the scenes these days, but I do go to some of the wedding fairs.
It’s nice to talk to the couples and find out about their plans, some can be quite inventive and quirky. I’m more traditional but FoA love a challenge, and who says you can’t have welly boots on your invitations?!
Meet FoA Girl Alysha
Hi my name’s Alysha, but you may know me as the youngest member of the FoA family (although I’m really not all that young anymore!)
Over the last couple of years, Mum, Kate, Mother Hen, has woked incredibly hard on bringing her business to life and we are all super super proud of her. Although I’m always happy to lend an ear and offer a younger outlook I really don’t do that much ! I suppose moral support is where I come into play – with a side of design ideas and teaching her how to use social media.
I’ll be setting off for my travel plans in May (after a couple of short trips I’ll be spending the main part of the year in Australia) so you won’t be hearing from me for a little bit, but I’ll try my very best to send Mum all the good photos to keep you all in the loop (and jealous!!)
